Blogging Etiquitte101

I have only been blogging since Sept. 2005; but I am amazed at the number of blogs and subjects blogged about that I have found. I joined Blog Explosion and frequent their chat room, The Shout Box. It's a great community of bloggers and I have made some good online blogging buddies. I have also learned quite a bit about blogging from the people there. One thing I have noticed is that we can all benefit by being "Click Buddies". See my post and learn what a Click Buddy is. I love to surf the web and visit other people's blogs. I beleive we all should adhere to the etiquitte rules I have listed here when visiting other blogs.

1. Don't just surf to earn credits, make sure you read at least one post on the blog you are visiting
2. Leave a comment
3. Be nice, remember the whole world can view your comments
4. If someone leaves a comment on your blog, reciprocate and visit their blog. Make sure you follow the first three rules above while you are there
5. In the case of Blog Explosion, take the time to visit the renter on the blog you are visiting and again, follow rules 1-3 above while you are on that blog
6. Battle of the Blogs is a great feature of Blog Explosion, so also take a few minutes to vote on the battles that are going on
7. When you are in the Shout Box or other chat rooms be nice. Bloggers have feelings too. If you must argue or say negative things about someone else, take the discussion out of public veiw. Send an email or IM the person, keep the squabbles private.

If we all abide by these view simple rules of etiquitte, the blog world will be a much nicer place, and we will all benefit. I look forward to your comments. I'll see you in cyberspace.

Rule #1

In real estate Rule #1 is location, location, location! The Internet is like the Wild West, anything goes. There are many good opportunities out there, but also lots of scams! Rule #1 for making money online is research, research, research! The good news is that you can find just about anything you want on the Internet, so research has become very easy to do. Make sure you spend some time surfing the web and checking out your idea before you blindly jump into something !

If you are going to become an affiliate or partner with someone, especially if you are going to spend your hard earned money, check them out with the Better Business Bureau first. Here is another good link for you to bookmark, The National Consumer League, they have a bunch of good information on their website about Internet fraud.

A Little Bit About Me

You may be asking yourself, "Who the heck is the guy telling me how to make money on the Internet and what is this blog all about anyway?" Here is a little bit about me and my plans for this blog.

First of all let me tell you that I am still working a full-time job and have not made a million dollars off of the Internet. In fact, I don't expect to make millions. My goal is simply to be able to make enough money online so that I no longer have to work full-time. I would love to be able to work from home, that's it...period! If you came here looking for a get rich quick scheme, then you are in the wrong place.

I just want to share some of the ideas that have worked for me and can also work for you. Yes it takes a little work and a lot of time, but there is no such thing as a FREE lunch! Everything I have done can be duplicated by you for little or no money.

This blog will be a series of informative articles about making money on the Internet. I will share my resources and tell you what I have found after trying many different things. I welcome your input, so feel free to leave a comment.

How to Make Money on the Web

Like many before me, one of the very first things I tried on the Internet was an online store selling products I bought at wholesale and sold for a profit. This worked well for me at flea markets and via mail order in the past so I figured it would do great on the Internet. WRONG!

There are so many competitors out there on the web my store didn't stand a chance. Unless you have a really unique product that is a tough way to make money.

Next I tried E-Bay but didn't do very well there either. Some people are succesful at E-Bay, but it just wasn't for me. So I put on my thinking cap and decided that I had to find a niche market. I already had designed websites for a couple of churches (for free) and thought that maybe I could turn that into a business. I set up a website for myself with a catchy domain name, Webdesign4Him and I was in business.


It cost me about $9.95 a year for a domain name and $3.95 a month for webhosting. I use Go Daddy for domain names and webhosting, they have GREAT prices. I printed up my own business cards and I was good to go. Now to find some customers. No problem, there are churches everywhere. The easiest and most cost effective way to contact them was with a phone call. However, I hate the telephone so I had to come up with another plan.

I did research on the Internet and found many places where there lists of churches in my area, a good place to start. Many of them already had websites, so I eliminated them. Next I contacted the ones with an email address listed but no website. This didn't cost me anything. I picked up a couple of customers and they recommended me to other churches. I was on a roll.
